A VR Simulation for Windows Mixed Reality used for teaching fire safety about the most common types of household fires.
Used to teach youth Fire Cadets at the Salt Lake City Fire Station about handling oven, grease, and Christmas tree fires.

Gameplay
Players are placed in three different fire emergency scenarios and are guided on how to handle each situation safely. Starting with an oven fire, moving on to a grease fire, and finally on to a Christmas tree fire (the most common type of fire during the holiday season). Each scenario has multiple ways to proceed safely, but escaping through a door or window is an option in all scenarios.
Fire Handling
Oven Fires
Oven fires often come from burnt food debris inside the oven. Since ovens are insulated, a safe way to handle this situation is to close the oven door and turn off the oven. If the fire gets out of hand, the best option is to leave the house and call 911.
Grease Fires
Grease fires are one of the most common household fires, caused by a mixture of greasy food debris and the stove's open flame. If this happens, don't throw water on the fire. Instead, smother the fire with a pan lid or pour baking soda on the fire. Fire extinguishers work equally as well. If the fire gets out of hand, the best option is to leave the house and call 911.
Christmas Tree Fires
Christmas tree fires are the most common type of fire during the holiday season. Christmas trees unfortunately make for great firewood. This means that if there is a fire, a Christmas tree will go up in flames within a matter of seconds. To safely handle this type of fire, you have a small amount of time to grab a fire extinguisher and put the fire out. If the fire is too large before you grab the extinguisher, make your way safely out of the house.
